Adam's Peak (Sri Pada) is one of Sri Lanka's most sacred and iconic pilgrimage sites. Standing at 2,243 meters, this mountain is revered by Buddhists, Hindus, Muslims, and Christians. At the summit lies a sacred footprint believed to be that of the Buddha, Shiva, Adam, or St. Thomas, depending on the religion. Pilgrims climb the peak -- often overnight -- to witness a stunning sunrise above the clouds and see the triangular "Shadow of the Peak."
